Rumble Chicken

I wanted this painting to look like a scene typical of the Black Hills of Wyoming and South Dakota. If you look closely you can find a match set of shed elk antlers in the background. This painting really reminds me of hunting turkeys in the Black Hills with my dad and brother as a young boy. We would relentlessly hunt for turkeys in the spring. During the early 90's our turkey population was nothing like it is now. I remember hunting hard for turkeys all spring with my Dad and we were so happy to finely catch up to two young jake turkeys. It is still a challenge to hunt turkeys but not like it was in the early 90's. Currently there is an abundance of turkeys all across the Black Hills.
